Best car rental rates for 2 week trip?
I’ve called all the name car rental places (budget, national, enterprise, hertz) for a trip that has me picking up the car in Seattle on May 25th and dropping the car off in San Francisco on June 6th. So far the best rate has been Budget, but it still comes out to about $75 per day which includes all taxes and fees but no insurance. I’ve read that people have found rates as low as $30 a day, how can I find a better rate?
One of the things with one way rentals is to try every rental company – not just the four you mentioned. There are eight major rental companies. One way rental rates can vary considerably by company depending on their fleet needs. I would also try airport and off airport locations and look for discount codes and coupons that you may be eligible for. Look online, they may not give you the best rate on the phone. Keep looking as rates can change daily.
I did a quick search online and found a rate of about $56 a day with Thrifty including taxes and fees. I you keep searching you may be able to find something a little cheaper.
